SHE LET GO

Written by Denise Ganulin and Alan Pedersen c2018

FIRST DAY OF SPRING 1988
ONE PINK BIKE AND A BLUE EYED GIRL......WHO COULDN'T WAIT
TO CLIMB UP ON THAT SEAT, WITHOUT THOSE TRAINING WHEELS
WITH A GREAT BIG SMILE AND NO FEAR
SHE DUG IN HER HEELS

THEN SHE LET GO
AND I WATCHED HER RIDE
ACROSS OUR DRIVEWAY TO THE OTHER SIDE
AND I HELD ON THE BEST I COULD
EVEN THOUGH I KNEW IT WOULD DO NO GOOD
WHEN SHE LET GO

FIRST DAY OF SUMMER 2008
THAT BLUE EYED GIRL WITH A PINK BOUQUET.... COULDN'T WAIT
SHE'D NEVER LOOKED MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN ON HER WEDDING DAY
WITH A GREAT BIG SMILE AND A LITTLE TEAR
I GAVE HER AWAY

THEN SHE LET GO

AND I WATCHED THE BRIDE

STEP ACROSS THE AISLE TO THE OTHER SIDE

AND I HELD ON THE BEST I COULD
EVEN THOUGH I KNEW IT WOULD DO NO GOOD
WHEN SHE LET GO

THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD HOLD HER BACK ONCE SHE MADE UP HER MIND
SO MANY DREAMS.... SO FULL OF LIFE

ONE DAY LAST WINTER THE CALL CAME IN LATE
MY BLUE EYED GIRL WAS CRITICAL.....THERE WASN'T TIME TO WAIT
I NEVER PRAYED SO HARD AS I DID THAT NIGHT
STANDING THERE RIGHT NEXT TO HER
WITH HER HAND IN MINE

THEN SHE LET GO
AND WE ALL CRIED
AS SHE SLIPPED AWAY TO THE OTHER SIDE
AND I HELD ON THE BEST I COULD
EVEN THOUGH I KNEW IT WOULD DO NO GOOD
WHEN SHE LET GO

 I LOVE HER SO
